Maintenance of Hayabusa Air Cleaner

Posted by on April 2, 2009

Periodic maintenance of air cleaner is important if your want to own a trouble free Hayabusa. You need to inspect your air cleaner one every 6000 km or 6 months, whichever is earlier. It is in your interest that you replace your air cleaner every 18000 km or 18 months, whichever is earlier.

You need to remove the rear seat and the front seat to check your cleaner. Once you have removed the seats lift the fuel tank and support the fuel tank. When you lift the fuel tank the air cleaner is clearly visible. Now remove the air cleaner with the help of screws. If dust is visible in the air cleaner use an air hose to blow the dust from the air cleaner. A word of caution, make sure you use the air pressure on the outside of the air cleaner element. If you use the air hose on the inside of the air element the dirt will be forced into the open pores of the air cleaner element. The dirt will restrict the free flow of the air flow in the air cleaner element.

If you are able to remove the dust from the air cleaner element then reinstall the air cleaner element with the help of screw driver. If you are unable to remove the dust I suggest you replace the air cleaner element. Then fix the fuel tank and seats of your Suzuki Hayabusa. Now remove the drain plugs from the air cleaner box to drain out water from the air cleaner box.

Cleaning of the air cleaner element is of utmost importance for people living in dusty conditions. If you use your Hayabusa without cleaning the air cleaner element, the wear and tear of the engine is accelerated. Similarly it is not advisable to drive your Busa if your air cleaner element is torn.

So it important that you clean your air cleaner periodically, if you want long life for your Busa engine.
